Prayers of Intercession - Living the Lord's Prayer

Jacob Lawrence, Prayer (1947) - Whitney Museum of American Art

Prayers of Intercession written for the Sung Eucharist at St George’s Bloomsbury on Sunday 24th July 2022 and St Stephen Walbrook on Thursday 28th July 2022 (Year C, 6th after Trinity, Proper 12) based on the words of Luke 11.1-13.

Our Father - our creator, our redeemer, our consoler and our saviour,

may all your children hallow your name.

Bless your church; may it pray without ceasing, that the light of your love might shine through our brokenness.

We pray for all Bishops, Priests and Deacons; for all those gathering at the Lambeth Conference this week.

Sustain us with your daily bread; may the sharing of it bring us closer to each other and to you.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

May your Kingdom come.

May your vision guide those with authority and influence in this world.

May your peace rule in all our hearts.

Bless all who are persistent in prayer, in spite of the suffering they face.

We pray for an end to war, injustice, and all that separates your people and your creation from the fullness of life that you intended.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive everyone indebted to us;

including ourselves.
Help us to recognise our own complexity; let us not live in deficit; with one part of our lives ruling over the rest.

Lead us towards balance and harmony in our relationships with all those around us.

Bless this community and this city, our friends and families.

We pray for an end to the economics of inequality and for the work of individuals and charities supporting those in need.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

Do not bring us to the time of trial.

May all who are sick and suffering find consolation in the abundance of your love.

We pray especially for Fr Ronald, Sue and Angela and in silence for all those known to us who are in particular need this day.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer

Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory;
into which you have welcomed all the faithful departed.
Comfort all who mourn.

In prayer and through your word and sacrament, walk with us into the fullness of your resurrection life;
So that your will may be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers,
for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ
Amen.
