Further Prayers for Morning Prayer on Wednesday 25th May 2022

Almond Blossoms, Vincent van Gogh, 1890

Further prayers written for Morning Prayer according to the Book of Common Prayer at St Stephen Walbrook on Wednesday 25th May 2022, based on readings from Psalm 119, Numbers 17 and Luke 7.1-10.

From Psalm 119 : Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes * and I shall keep it unto the end.

O Lord, our Great Teacher,

Teach us to love you and one another.

Teach us to pray in thought, word and deed.

Teach us to forgive those who have wounded us.

Teach us to listen for your Word this day.

Teach us to care about those who suffer.

Teach us to work for your peace and justice.

Teach us to hope for the coming of your eternal kingdom.

Teach us, O Lord, the way of thy statues; and we shall keep it unto the end.

Amen.

From the Book of Numbers : And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.

Almighty God, your love for us knows no bounds.

May this unity of love become visible through the fruits of your church in this City and around the world.

Help us to blossom and flourish in faith each in our own way, at different times and seasons.

Graft unto our lives an appreciation of other traditions; a desire to reconcile differences and deepen fellowship.

Help us to grow in your likeness; one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Amen.

From the gospel according to Saint Luke: And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

Lord, our Great Physician,

With faith that you are with us in our pain and suffering,

We bring before you all who are sick and those caring for them.

We pray especially for Melvyn, John, Ian, William, Shelley, Margaret and Philip, Caroline, Francine, Carole, Peter and for Juliet and her family, Adrian, Jennifer and their family, Martin, Sam and Sophia, for Sally, for Tom, for Sarah, Kim and Mark.

May the power of your Word bring them strength, the knowledge of your presence bring them hope and the abundance of your love bring them comfort.

Amen.
