Prayers of Intercession - Make All Things New

Make All Things New, James B. Janknegt, 2005

Prayers of Intercession written for Morning Prayer on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 based on Revelation 21.1-8

We pray for steadfastness of faith.

Come, Lord Jesus, our morning star.

Renew us by your Holy Spirit. Make the vision of your kingdom the true perspective for our lives today. Let us never cease longing for a new heaven and a new earth, when we will be with you.

We pray for all who are sick and suffering.

Come, Lord Jesus, our morning star.

Descend through the dark clouds; awaken our hearts with compassion for the suffering around us; the crying, the mourning and the pain. Grant us patience as we wait for the day when you will wipe away every tear from the eyes of this broken world.

We pray for forgiveness.

Come, Lord Jesus, our morning star.

Shine your light on us this day; lead us to freedom from our selfish desires. Let the only shadows in our lives be the shadow of your cross. Receive with mercy all your children who repent for turning away from you.

We give thanks that we are children of God.

Come, Lord Jesus, our morning star.

The alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end; as we prepare to celebrate the great mystery of your nativity, may we know the joy of your loving presence in every moment of each day, until your coming again in glory.

Come, Lord Jesus, our morning star.
