Prayers of Intercession - Calm amidst Chaos

Small Chaos, Nengi Omuku, 2020

Prayers of Intercession written for the Sung Eucharist at St Mary le Bow on Thursday 25th July 2022 ((Year B, Trinity 8, Proper 11) based on the text of Mark 6.30-34, 53-end.

God of Life, whose Son called the disciples to a place of reflection and retreat,
send your Spirit to sustain and refresh all who minister in your name, especially those who feel overwhelmed by the needs of your people.
We pray for our clergy and lay ministers and all who support them; for the growth of the church and the nourishment of new vocations.

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

God of Peace, whose Son made space for silence and stillness amidst the chaos and clamour around him,
may your Spirit embolden all in positions of authority and influence to do likewise.
We pray for an end to enmity and discord, for clarity and unity of purpose, respect for our common humanity and for the world we share.

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

God of Compassion, whose Son drew great crowds desperate for his healing touch,
send your Spirit, our Comforter, upon all who are experiencing pain and distress today.
We pray especially for John, Patrick, Philippa, Alice, Georgina, Brian, Elizabeth, Claudette, Margaret, Marlene, Kyle, Rex and Susanna and in a moment of silence we pray for those whose names are written on our own hearts.

Lord in thy mercy
Hear our prayer

God of Rest, whose Son has called us to join him on another shore,
send your Spirit to console all who mourn.
We pray for the recently departed and for those whose years mind falls at this time, including Jack Davis.

With St Stephen, St Mary, St Giles and all the saints we pray;

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers,
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour, Jesus Christ,
Amen.
